World’s highest airport in China

Tibet is one of the Autonomous Regions of China and is located in the south-west of this country. It is a famous place for its passionate people, multi-cultural background and the mystical Himalayas which are the world’s highest mountain.

Nowadays, more and more people are attracted to visit this area. However, those wishing to go there face many difficulties such as the long journey and the thin air.

Lately, the central government of China has taken many measures to reduce the travelling time between Tibet and the central and east part of the country. In 2006, the Qinghai-Tibet Railway was built and since then, this company has taken thousands of people more quickly and comfortably to and from Tibet. More recently, Daocheng Yadi airport was constructed in Tibet, and has been used since the 16th of September this year.

This airport is considered as the highest gate in altitude to Tibet, and it reduces considerably the travelling time. For example, Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, is one of the preferred points of departure by tourists willing to visit Tibet. The new facility helps travellers to spend just 65 minutes now instead of two days by bus previously.

Regarding the thin air, passengers who have a history of light-headedness and other symptoms of altitude sickness are advised by the airline companies not to take flights to Tibet. As for the take-off of the airplane, a runway longer than usual was made to allow the aircraft engine to produce more thrust.

In conclusion, Tibet is now in the position to receive more people, who will be taking advantage of the reduced travelling time to visit one of the most beautiful sceneries of the world.
