Experience China Fair in London

On the 4th of November, 2013, Experience China Fair was held in London South Bank University. This was an event organized by the British Council and was intended to help young people to ‘discover a wealth of China opportunities under one roof’.

The fair was packed with representatives from 14 world-renowned Chinese universities and internship agencies. There were also many young people who were interested in studying or doing an internship in China. They could find a lot of useful information in this fair regarding the application process for courses and about internship opportunities in China.

The program of this event also included three key-talks given by John Naylor and Nicholas Sheffield who are two British entrepreneurs in China and by Theresa Booth who is the Director of the internship agency called ‘Chopsticks Club’.

During his talk, John, an architect who has been working in China for over two years, said that in that country, young people can find chances that they will never dream with in Europe. On the other side, Nicholas, the Assistant Director and Chief Representative of Rothschild in Beijing, described the life in China as very good in terms of the low costs of living. Finally, Theresa emphasized that the growing job opportunities and the fast development of the country are the most attractive aspects for foreign people to go to China besides learning the language.

From our perspective, Experience China Fair encouraged British people to go to China, by highlighting the aspects that make that country to be different from the western countries. After the fair, we felt satisfied to see that many foreigners like our Mandarin Chinese language students at first4mandarin are willing to go to China to take challenges.
